Vacuum Distillation Units for Waste Water Treatment

The Vacuum Distillation (VACUDEST) system has been designed for dealing with relatively low to medium volumes of contaminated waste water. It is often especially useful for wastes which are difficult to process by alternative methods or where there are strict requirements to meet before discharge to town sewer or re-use is possible.

How does it work?

The VACUDEST forms a closed-energy system in which only the heat loss from the vacuum pump drive has to be compensated for resulting in up to 80% saving on energy costs compared with conventional systems. [To evaporate 1 litre of water only requires approximately 80Wh]. This design ensures that all the condensation energy is released into the fluid in the evaporator, thus the evaporation energy and the condensation energy are kept in equilibrium.

The VACUDEST operates fully automatically, round the clock if required. Process control is by a specifically developed microprocessor.

VACUDEST is particularly suitable for the following industries:

  • Graphic arts/Printing
  • Photographic
  • Chemical manufacture
  • Pharmaceutical/cosmetic manufacture
  • Metal plating
  • Landfill percolate
  • Machine shop wastes
  • Incinerator fume treatment
